PATTERNS IN PAPER

Patterns in paper finishes should be considered when planning a layout and when cutting paper. We recommend
working with a sample sheet of the actual paper trimmed to press size.

STRATHMORE ELEMENTS

The patterns on Elements Dots, Squares, Grid, and Grain do not change when the sheet is turned. The patterns on Elements Lines and Zigzag run parallel to the grain direction.

 CLASSIC COLUMNS

The linear pattern in Columns runs parallel to the grain direction. The sizes of paper stocked in this grade reflect different grain directions that work with most printing applications.

CORRUGATE

Unlike most patterned sheets, corrugated patterns run across the grain of the paper.

LAID FINISHES

The pattern in laid finished paper is characterized by two common elements;

  1. A pronounced ribbing that is irregular.
  2. Widely spaced markings that run perpendicular to the ribs, called the chain marks.
