Coast Paper is a specialist in the sales, marketing and distribution of high-performance printing and office papers. For over sixty years, our highly trained and experienced staff have been dedicated to providing superior levels of service to Canadian customers.

In 1941, Coast Paper was founded by Gilbert Garnett in Vancouver, British Columbia. Steady growth on the West Coast provided a strong platform for a successful eastward expansion beginning in 1973 with the opening of the Calgary, Alberta division. Further expansion followed with the opening of Edmonton, Alberta (1975); Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (1985); Toronto, Ontario (1986); Winnipeg, Manitoba (1997); and Regina, Saskatchewan (1997).

Coast Paper was sold by the Garnett family in June 2001 to PaperlinX, a publicly traded Australian company, focussed on the global distribution of printing and office papers. Our colleagues at PaperlinX bring to Coast Paper a wealth of resources which strengthen our position as the leading independent fine paper merchant in Canada. With over 10,000 employees across 29 countries, the PaperlinX merchanting network ranks amongst the largest in the world.

In April 2002, PaperlinX acquired Papier Turgeon, a 90 year old, family owned paper merchant operating in Montreal and Quebec City. This addition largely completed the company's geographic coverage of Canada, creating an even stronger platform for growth and customer service.

Technology investments in fiber optic phone lines, new call processing systems, an enterprise-wide computer system and customer focussed e-commerce solutions have been made to give the Canadian business, and our customers, a competitive edge.
